Mountain Gorillas are the most threatened primate species in the world with the remaining living in Africa and in countries; Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. The Mountain Gorillas are 10th of the most endangered species in the world recorded to be only about 700 individuals in the world. Approximately 400 species are left in the Virunga Mountains of Democratic Republic of Congo.
Bwindi gorilla trek -3days
You will be met by your guide after breakfast, then depart from Kampala by road and head south-West to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.. Have a brief at the Equator and then continue to Mbarara for Lunch. Travel through the hilly terrains, with amazing views of the Virunga volcanoes of Rwanda and Congo. Then to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the mountain gorillas. Overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma community Bandas (Full Board)
Have an early breakfast and proceed to carry out gorilla tracking. Report to the guide station for registration and a briefing on the gorilla trek by one of the guides.
You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Mountain Gorillas, this gorilla trek usually takes from half an hour to 9 hours. Watch and photograph the gorillas in their natural habitat, listen to them marvel and grumble to each other .Other mammals in the forest include the rare golden monkey, buffalos, elephants, black fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest hog and many others.
Another optional activity done in the afternoon is, a guided walk on the Munyaga River trail, which leads to three delightful crystal clear waterfalls views of epiphytic ferns, tree ferns, orchids colorful butterflies Overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma community Bandas (Full Board)
After a morning breakfast, you will be transferred back to Kampala and then to the Airport for your flight back at Home.
